Brendan got this lovely gift from Jeriel - a 3D paper art puppy which he kept asking me to fix for him.

After making a promise that I'll fix it for him, I finally got down to fix it and it was so extremely difficult to do it due to the folding of the lines and glueing some of the parts together.

I was getting quite agitated cos I was supposed to meet a friend but ended cancelling the appointment after spending about 2 hours just to fix this little puppy for him.

Brendan treasures this little paper puppy so much that he insists that I put it high on top of the shelf to avoid spoiling it in case it is left lying around.

Seeing that he was happy with the results, I too was glad that my one-to-one time with him was very much well-spent.

Christmas outing

This Christmas season, we spent most of our time at home. We only took the kids out on Christmas eve to see the lights and decoration in Sunway Pyramid. It was just so tiring for us everyday to think about taking them out until we decided that we should at least give the kids a small treat by taking them out for a little while... :P

Christmas day was basically food, food and more food. We went to one of my childhood friend's open house whom I've not seen for almost ten years in Klang and it was a pleasant visit to her. We went for another open house at night to hubby's ex-colleague's house.

This Christmas, I just wanted a nice quiet time at home with the kids and this year, this meant something special to me cos we are spending time together in our brand new home.

Travelling again...

Gosh, am I tired..... It's been a travelling month these two months.. Two weekends ago, we went down south for my brother's open house. We had to go down earlier to help prepare all the food... well, actually it was my parents who cooked all the food. We started the trip one night before, arriving at 4am in the morning. Our eyes were like Panda and all I wished for was a total quiet peaceful sleep, which of course, I didn't get. Sigh!

With so many guests, especially from Singapore, that weekend was so tiring that we we practically giving up on doing any more travelling.

My brother got his first Christmas tree and the kids simply love playing around the tree! Anyway, with the food, presents and holidays, the kids are just so energetic that I get tired just looking at them! haha

Unfortunately, last weekend, we went down south again and this time, the trip back to KL was extremely bad.... It took us 6 hours instead of the normal 3 1/2 hours to KL. We had a stop for dinner in Seremban though due to the jam and by the time we reached home it's midnight.

I'm glad that this weekend, it's gonna staying at home after those weekly travelling. Aah.... the feeling of 'home sweet home'....

Sis' wedding

My one and only little sister finally got married... and she's no longer a baby to us anymore. Though it seems like yesterday that she was just a little girl, she has now grown up to be an adult and someone else's wife...

The wedding dinner in our hometown was on the first weekend in November. She was simply stunning in her gown and it brought back memories of the days when we were still young.. We share bedtime stories, clothes and were the best of friends until we both moved on to study and work in two different places - me in KL and my sis in Penang.

Her actual church wedding took place one week after that, in Sitiawan where her husband's hometown is. It was a simple and lovely wedding - a love so pure, so powerful and most importantly, filled with so much joy and happiness and I feel so touched by their relationship.

The food was unusual and simply delicious. There were ready plastic bags for us to tapao. Each table cost less than RM300 but the serving was like for 2 tables. We estimated that should the food be served in KL, the table would not cost anything less than RM600.

Brendan and Eryn could only admire their auntie and kept asking why Auntie Mei Chin looks so pretty. Eryn could only say.. Auntie Mei Chin is a princess...

My mum took the effort to cut out the hem from her nicely kept lacy wedding gown and converted it into a nice beautiful long sleeved gown for Eryn who just wouldn't want to remove the dress after wearing it. She also cut out the hems from another lacy blouse and converted it into a nice pretty dress for Eryn.

Disney Live! in KL

On Deepavali day, hubby & I took the kids and my mum to see the Disney Live! Show at Bukit Jalil. I was given 3 free Category A tickets and bought another RM158 Category A ticket for my mum so we can take her along.

It was one entertaining show and brought me back to my childhood days where I used to love watching Mickey Mouse and reading the stories of Cinderella, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc...

The incorporation of the superb magical skills was simply awesome and it was certainly a wholesome family outing.

With Broomsticks flying in the air, Minnie Mouse and the princess from Aladdin floating in the air and the many beautiful dances and glittering and shimmering costumes and stage designs, I felt like a little child again. Until now, I am still wondering how the magicians "cut up" two of the ladies, split up their bodies into two and exchange the bottom halves between the two. Just simply amazing.

The kids were simply fascinated with the whole performances. Brendan was glued to his seat with his mouth opened at times. Eryn started dancing by the isle with the many beautiful performances. I personally loved the Cinderella show.

It was an enchanting experience for the whole daily. Hubby who isn't really into cartoons and don't know much about the character was equally impressed.

"Cute hor"

From most than a week, Eryn's nanny was away to visit her grown up daughter. So, I was at home with Eryn for 2 days, and took her around with me for the other days.

Last Monday, there was a Raya makan in my freelance workplace. Eryn came along and had fun mingling with some of the aunties at mummy's workplace. She ate lots and lots of chocolates, cakes and sweets and that's all she ate for lunch.

Everyone commented that she looks like a boy and said that she looks so cute. Eryn will then give her widest smile and with a twinkle in her eyes, she'll say "Cute hor..." Everyone around her laughed at her cuteness.

Then, a few days later, mummy took Eryn to her other workplace and one uncle commented, "Wah... you're such a smart boy!", not realising what he had just said. When someone said, "You're so cute...", Eryn will again give her sweetest smile and say, "Cute hor..."

On a separate occasiona, Eryn followed mummy & daddy to a friend's wedding dinner in Eastin Hotel. A photographer spotted her and started snapping away... Eryn started posing for the camera and here are some of the outcome :

The kids always makes me laugh. So, the last time I laughed was this morning when Eryn rolled over me and pulled at my face.

Playing the piano.

To Cherating, sometimes in 2004 I think, with hubby's company's trip.

What the "F"?

No, that's not the four-letter word I'm trying to input here.


Lately, Eryn has the tendency to add an "F" in front of some words. She will go around saying the words "Funtie" (as in auntie) and "Funcle" (as in uncle). I'm not sure how fun this is cos I do worried whether her speech has changed to be more complicated. And then there's the "Fupstairs (for upstairs), "Fouuside" (for outside) and "Fie" (for I).


And she will also drag the "F" a little longer like "Fffffuntie" or "Fffffuncle".


For a girl her age, her communication skills is quite advance. So, I do wonder whether she's getting too advance until her words are now all jumbled up. When I correct her, she will say them correctly, but there are times, those "F" just can't seem to get away...


When we ask her what her what is her name? She used to say, "Jing Jong Jing" but now she knows how to say it correctly, i,.e. Lim Shu Jynn. When she thinks it's funny, she'll go back and say "Jing Jong Jing" again and starts laughing. I thought that was cheeky... but not the "Funtie" and "Funcle"..

Brendan turns 4

Brendan turns 4 yesterday and he treated his friends to some snacks at his preschool. My boy has grown and I know he'll grow up very fast.

There wasn't a birthday party for him this year, nor were there many presents for him. He seems quite contented with it and didn't ask for more, esp. for a little question to his aunt, "Where's my present, Auntie Mei Chin?"

I've been thinking of him alot lately, esp. when he has this disturbing cough that has been going on for 3 months. He's been to the doctor twice and the next 2-3 weeks, if he doesn't improve, the doctor indicated that it could be due to some sinus problem.



I slept late thinking about this and now, I'm still up - thinking about him. I've also been noticing that his lips turn a little blue when he exerts himself. The doctor says that his lungs are ok and that we should keep a look out on the discoloration when he tires himself out. I spent time reading about such symptoms on the internet and the more I think about it, the more I can't sleep!



Brendan is 4 and he's no longer a baby. I pray for good health and lots of happiness, peace and love in your life, my dear son. Blessed birthday to you, Brendan...

*Ring Ring*

When I read Jess' stating that Lyon has been calling me, I realise that this has been happening to me as well.

Sometimes, I get missed calls from home and sometimes, Brendan will just call to say "hello" and "bye" and he'll repeat the process again and again until I have to scold him! Imagine that you are in a meeting and he keeps calling and calling just for the fun of it.

I am happy that Brendan knows how to call mummy, but the timing can just be not so right! I do wonder whether he really knows how to dial my number or maybe he just press the redial number. Initially, I knew that he dialled the redial number, but recently, I noticed that there were no calls from home prior that.

I tried to test him to dial the number in front of me and he says he doesn't know. So, how did he dial my number?

Rasa Sayang

With this issue of the "Rasa Sayang" song belonging to Indonesia, I find it amusing that Eryn is singing this song very loud in some of the gatherings I've been having with friends.


She'll go like this :


"Rasa Sayang, Neh...Rasa Sayang Sayang Neh" (she prefers saying Neh than Hey)
"Neh.... Nananana Rasa Sayang Sayang Neh..."


Everyone thinks she's so cute.. and then, the talk about this song belonging to Indonesia will be brought up and makes everyone talk and laugh over it. Actually, I personally do not really know what the real issue here is.


I think mummy here is worst. When I was a little girl, I always thought this was a Singaporean song cos I always see this group of children singing and dancinc to this song on a Singapore channel when I was small. hahaha

School exams

I used to hate exams cos I just hated having to study for it. I went through it though and survived well.

I had to laugh till my tummy ached when I got some "interesting" real life situations of some genious trying to prove their capability in answering some physics & maths questions. Seriously, are these kids really trying to test the teacher's patience or are they just simply asnwering what they think the answers should be?

Gosh, I'm keeping my fingers crossed my kids will never pull such stunts on me, or the teacher!

You go figure these out yourselves :-) Just simply amazing...oh, and funny too!

Food! Glorious Food!

I'm a food lover... I can eat and eat and eat... But lately, I've been cutting down on rice at night cos my tummy is getting flabby.

After I stop breastfeeding Eryn completely when she turned two, I notice my pants and skirts were getting a little tight at the waist. Dear hubby wasn't of any help... His friends complimented that I still look slim but he seems to take joy in highlighting on the spare tyre that I have!!

With weddings and buka puasa dinners and a recent house-warming party that I've been going for the past few weeks is really putting some pressure on my spare tyre! I'm not the type who goes on diet for 2 simple reasons... I get gastric when I'm very hungry and secondly, I love food!

Then , there's the open house on Raya day. Mind you, I've been cleaning the house and rushing here and there and yet that spare tyre just doesn't seem to get firm.

I need to exercise but first, I'll need to get my leg down from the bed on Sunday morning for the overdue jogging.

Big waves coming!

Yes, the big waves are coming my way, and I'm happy and at the same time so kan-cheong going through the waves.

It's coming to year end and there's so many things to do out of the sudden. I have to help manage the current freelance project which I'm doing while managing my own personal consultancy business. While doing these, I'm assisting in the planning of my sis' wedding in December. Our new house has just finished renovation and now there's the painting, the cleaning, the buying of items for the house, moving and then there's my brother's open house.

Gosh, the feeling is so overwhelming... and surprisingly, I'm kinda enjoying it. Over and above all these, there's other family matters we're attending to as well.

I feared having to go through a calm period, like a radarless boat, wanting some action but couldn't move. Now, the waves are coming and I know I wanted this... It's a tough journey having to see to so many things at one time... but at least I'm doing it happily now without any feeling of stress, except for the occasional screaming at the kids....

Eryn's bags

Eryn simply loves bags. Big bag, small bag, cloth bag, paper bag and even plastic bag! I’ll always not let her get hold of any plastic bags in sight though as it’s a dangerous thing to do. I also forbid her from touching my handbags and my wallet, though she’ll try to peep into my handbag to see what’s inside. If she can get hold of my wallet or DH’s wallet, she’ll carefully open it and see what’s inside.


After work, Eryn likes spending her time scribbling on paper, cuddle up to me when I’m watching TV, riding on her little car, playing masak-masak, dancing and singing or holding all sort of bags in both hands, on both shoulders, and putting them in her little car.

She used to love taking bags out whenever we go out, but now we try to avoid that, after losing one nice little bag.
Her favourite bag will definitely have to be the little doggy bag specially bought from U.S. for Eryn, as seen in the picture here. It was a gift from one of DH’s aunt. This tiny doggy bag is made of clothe and wool and when you press its nose, it’ll make a cute little sound. Her other favourite is one small knapsack which is not seen in the picture here.
Recently, I’ve been trying to get rid of my light brown TOD’s bag (it’s an ORIGINAL fake. Hehe) which used to be my favourite. I left it on the floor by the door, waiting to be given away. Eryn saw it and loved it so much and said “this is Eryn’s big, big bag… It’s so cute seeing her being a makcik carrying all her bags around.


She just loves stuffing things into the bag as well – not just her tiny toys, but my name cards, tissue papers, hankerchief, bits of papers she’s scribbled on, pen, etc. When I can’t find something, I first thing I head for is her bags!! As seen in the picture on the right here, there’s her balls, little watering can, hankerchief, paper, etc.

My little sister

My little sister is getting married! She's my one and only sister and now she has grown up.

I am one of those people who used to see and think that my little sister is still my little sister. To me, she's that little girl, who is just simply naive and has more to learn. I refuse to give-in to the fact that she's a grown up adult until now.

My sister is my best friend as well. We share some funny moments together and share many things as well. She's very calm and patient and has great personality who always thinks of her family and friends.

As a baby, she was very weak and was warded to the ICU ward. There wasn't much hope for my parents at that time until a few days later when a miracle happened. Anyway, that is a story for another day.

She was always the baby of the family and in school she always did the best to catch up in everything. It was a big surprise to us when she wanted to take her Masters in Economics and passed with flying colours, being in the 2nd place in the whole of her university, losing only to a lecturer. She presented her case in front of many deans and lecturers from Malaysia, Asia and NZ and was also offered a partial scholarship from a Australian dean.

Though having a Masters in her hands, she is never one who shows off and willingly starts from the bottom in any company that she works for. Her desire is still to become a teacher in the secondary school. She is very humble and definitely is a big blessing to the husband she's going to marry.

I'm happy on the day I found out about her up-coming wedding in December that I cannot sleep. It's like how a mother would be excited for her daughter who is getting married.

8 random facts about my mum

Got tagged by Wen and it made me thought a lot about my mum.

These are some of the things I can immediately think now of as I write about my mum.

1) My mum is 58 years old. She was born in the Chinese lunar year of the cow and she is a Taurus. This simply shows in her as she is a very hardworking woman and is never one who laze around doing nothing as she will also make sure she has things to do. Of course, she enjoys her short afternoon nap as a treat.

2) My mum helped me to take care of Brendan and she’s the best mum you can have. She makes a better mum than me in caring for Brendan. She’s always on her toes, and always ensure that Brendan eats his breakfast, lunch and dinner. They must be healthy, home-cooked food too.

3) My mum is not well educated, but she does lots of self-improvement and she reads lots of books to improve her knowledge and her grammars. She knows many things about herbs and plants and all health-related issues. In her past 20 odd years, she has taken a liking to cut out interesting newspaper articles on health, diseases, personal improvement, up to BGR, motivating stories, and many more. She’ll paste them on her scrap and there’s lots of them at home. In one of the scrap book, she wrote a short letter to us, her children, to teach us some of the important things in life, should she die early one day.

4) She loves going for her daily, very early morning walk to breathe in fresh air and to improve blood circulation. I’ve join her in her walks and for a person her size and age, she can walk very fast and very far. Walking is her favourite exercise. She also like learning about massage, acupressure points and accupuncture.

5) My mum mingles around easily with people. Before I had kids, I didn’t know many of my neighbours around the current place where I am staying. After I had Brendan, she helped babysit Brendan in KL for a while and during her stay here, I joined in her quest to know my neighbours. She’ll tell me that my right neighbour is good in sewing curtains and the auntie downstairs is a confinement lady and another auntie in the other block was bullied by her hubby and she’s all alone. They love chatting with my mum too.

6) My mum comes from a big family of 13 children. She’s the 7th child in the family of 8 girls and 5 boys. Being in such a big family means that the older children have to work while the ones in the middle will have to take care of the younger children as her parents comes from China and work daily in their own bread and biscuit factory from morning to night. Hardship was written on all their faces then, during the Japanese Occupation. They stayed in a big kampong house in the outskirt surrounded by rubber trees, plants, domestic animals as well as wild animals like monkey, squirrels, owls, etc.

7) Coming from a poor family also means that they survive of their own plot of vegetable and fruit plantation, as well as rearing lots of chicken and ducks and pigs to feed 15 in the family the factory workers. She used to help cook and go to the swamp to collect earth worms with her bare hands to bring it back to feed the pigs. Whenever she thinks of this now, she’ll squirm and not touch any worm. She also couldn’t imagine doing then in her younger days.

8) My mum was a very good runner in the school days. She was so good in sports that the teachers used to pick on her to represent the various sports categories in school. But having to work after/before school, cook and taking care of her younger siblings means that there is no such thing as going through sports practice for her. She’ll just turn up on sports day and run for her life.

I could going on writing more things about my mum but I guess the above 8 items are good enough.
