Primary One

I'm joining in the bandwagon to blog about Brendan's first day of school.

He managed well, having two of his friends from kindergarten in the same class and a few other friends in other classes. The teachers in the kindergarten has prepared him well for primary school, just like the principal has promised.

Brendan was surprisingly quite enthusiast about going to school. I met a mummy friend I know from a mummies group whose daughter is also studying there. I also bumped into a client and a few neighbours whose kids are also studying there. It's such a small world to know some people in the school.

Things were so different back then when I was in primary one. I remember playing and playing only, and I had wonderful teachers who were extremely experienced in teaching. Nowadays, we have to be careful of our kids' well-being and all.

I've put Brendan on the school's food programme at RM80 for two months. Don't think I can prepare food for him everyday and decided to go ahead with the food programme which have quite different variety of food every single day, inclusive of a drink. Brendan takes his lunch at 11am which means by recess time he'll be so hungry that he'll chomp down on his food. He only reaches home at 7:30pm which means he'll be hungry.

It's the start of the year and big challenges are coming ahead. Get ready to rock-and-roll!

so far so good. Why are you withdrawing him from the food prog? I find the one at Brendan's school quite ok, but I'm worried whether there's lots of MSG or not. He's been a small eater, but the fact that he wallop all the food at canteen at during dinner at home must have mean that he's been one hungry boy in school. I also kasihan him lah.

For Teng Hong, I will prepare the food for him every morning, he is not a picky eater, 4 slices of breads w/ jam, cheese cream, condensed milk, etc will be good enough for him, sometimes fried rice or noodles.

But now he ask for pocket money coz he noticed some of his friends buy food from canteen. Blek... I told him, beside I will only give him when he is a bit bigger but this boy never give up!

How about Brendan?

Pek Imm, you're right! I realised that even before Brendan started school, that hols now means school break, the peak period! sob! sob!
Martini, Brendan is not a picky eater so he eats anything. We compensate by me cooking dinner as much as possible to have home-cooked food for him. He doesn't ask for money cos I've explained to him that I've paid the uncle for the food. Sometimes, I let him take vitagen or cornflakes or biscuits to school. He doesn't bring a single sen to school and he's fine with it :-)

And well done to Brendan.

Yes, Agnes. Chinese school and surprisingly, Brendan seems to enjoy it. The school is about 4-5 years old I think, and that's why everything is clean and nice.

It's good that there r many familiar faces in sch. And Brendan's doing great! My girl's sch doesn't hv any food prog so she gets pocket money to spend during recess time (that's wat she looks fwd to in sch :D). But I told her can oni buy twice a wk. Oth days, she brings bread/pastries/bisc/fried rice.
